Alexander Parker's Sound Portfolio
UFO:AI
UFO:AI is a GPL turn based combat strategy game inspired by the X-Com tradition of games.  As I am a longtime fan of UFO - Enemy Unknown, when I saw they needed some sounds and music I was more than happy to get to work on this ambitious project.

I created the following in game sound effects using a combination of filtered samples and subtractive synthesis. Many of these sounds have been packaged and are also available for use in other projects on the download section of this site:

  • bolter2.wav
  • pistol2.wav
  • grenade.wav
  • deepexplosion.wav
  • fireexplosion.wav
  • smokeexplosion.wav
  • machinepistol.wav
  • smg2.wav
  • riotshotgun.wav
  • microshotgun2.wav
  • sniperrifle.wav
  • kerrblade_swip.wav
  • knife.wav
  • medikit.wav
  • boltercannonade.wav
  • machinegun.wav
  • plasmablade.wav
  • assaultrifle.wav
For the following alien death sounds, I sourced a particularly disturbing sound of a pig being slaughtered from "The Freesound Project", originally recorded by Dobroide and released under a Creative Commons license.   This sound was a perfect base to create 6 eerie and disturbing alien death samples.  These samples are also released for download off this website as the "Alien Death Pack".
  • aliendeath1.wav
  • aliendeath2.wav
  • aliendeath3.wav
  • aliendeath4.wav
  • aliendeath5.wav
  • aliendeath6.wav

I also created the following ambient and atmospheric mission tracks, encoded in ogg-vobis format:

  • AlexFightmare.ogg
Get Flash to see this player.
  • AlexForest.ogg
Get Flash to see this player.
  • AlexSullencity.ogg
Get Flash to see this player.

I have recieved great feedback for these tracks and samples.  Sullencity was said to be reminiscent of Blade Runner in style.  The UFO:AI team is still developing the game, and I can not say whether I will be further involved as my paid commitments take up most of my time, but if I do get the spare time I will be more than happy to help the team with their sound and music assets.
